Illimitable 2019 Recap: Design Thinking Workshops

A diverse team collaborating on a design sprint with another team faded in the background.

For the past two weekends, a diverse group of disability advocates, engineers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and civic leaders converged in Atlanta for design thinking workshops at Georgia Tech and Emory University. These workshops, which were a part of the inaugural technology summit Illimitable 2019, focused on design as a gateway to more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities. The events featured 13 speakers and panelists spanning self-advocates to academics to industry professionals. With support from Georgia Tech's Innovation and Design Collaborative, attendees tackled design sprints in five tracks related to the social determinants of health: the built environment, education, employment, health and wellness, and social and community engagement.

Stay tuned for more posts, insights, and media from Illimitable 2019. If you missed the workshops or are interested in learning more about accessibility and inclusive design work in the Atlanta area, register for our community meet-up at General Assembly on Saturday, May 11th. We hope you will also invite your family, friends, and colleagues to join the conversation!

Lastly, many thanks to our attendees, organizing committee, volunteers, partners, and supporters: Wireless RERC, Design Bloc, Georgia Tech Excel, the Jane Goodall Institute, the Center for Leadership in Disability, the Bobby Dodd Institute, the Fund II Foundation, and the Atlanta Autism Consortium.
